Westhaven-Elmhurst Community Association – A Storied History

In operation since March 17th, 1972, the non-profit Westhaven Elmhurst Community Recreation Association was set up by a group of concerned and conscientious parents in the N.D.G. area who wanted to create a safe recreational space for their children and other kids in the area. WECRA was initially set up with the purpose of meeting the social and recreational needs of youths in N.D.G. to allow parents to share their mutual interests and concerns for their children's physical, mental, and emotional development.

Since then, Westhaven has evolved, developed and grown in many ways including moving locations from our initial home on Patricia Avenue to where we are today on Harley Avenue. In that time, we have increased and diversified the range of programs we offer and have teamed up with the City of Montreal as well as a slew of other non-profit organizations and charitable entities in the area to create a holistic environment.

However, despite the changes that have taken place in the intervening 45 years, one thing that has remained consistent during this time is our commitment to creating a caring and engaging community-driven recreational association that uses practical courses to bring people in the area together.

Family-Orientated Community Recreation Association for N.D.G.

Research shows that the hours between 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. during school days, weekends, as well as the summer months when school is out, are the periods when your son or daughter are at the highest risk of getting into trouble. That is why our after-school services, summer day camps and wide range of practical workshops are a perfect way of keeping your kids safe while also developing their social skills and confidence levels.

We know that for working families in the N.D.G. area, making sure that their kids’ are safe and taken care of when school’s finished is the number one priority. Our dedicated approach to what we do means that we can cater to your family’s needs in a clever and concise fashion.
